The Ban-de-Lis is an elegant, almost puerile experiment in fashion design and our very first Joint. Drawing from my admiration of the precision, fluid contours and haphazard grace found in any common bandana, I first envisioned what was to become the Ban-de-Lis, taking a theme and not enacting a variation on it but a revolution...the fleur-de-lis would act as the unifying theme, but it had to have a one-of-a-kind look to it; it had to impart an easy sense of grace, as if to say, no cookie cutter made me.
And so I give you the Ban-de-Lis in its first three styles, so please give a shout-out to my beloved New Orleans. The flower of life as well as the flower of death, the fleur-de-lis is one of the most charged, iconic symbols in all of history. Sometimes an iris and other times a lily, the fleur-de-lis is a political, dynastic, artistic and heraldic emblem. It blooms for the city of New Orleans, for the state of Louisiana, for the cities of St. Louis and Louisville, and for love and beauty everywhere.
